In the silence of the nightfall, when the world is lying still

1. In the silence of the nightfall, when the world is lying still, I am called up to the towers, to look to Zion's hill. There my spirit joins His Spirit to watch and pray and weep; And the Holy Ghost communicates, as deep calls unto deep.

Chorus: I am a watchman guarding the way, Shielding the fortress both night and day; Kept by God's power through every hour, I am a watchman, beloved of God.
